Busy Little Truck was an idea born out
of a desire to make a difference in people’s lives – in a new way.
After losing their family home in Cyclone Gabrielle, Ben and Lauren moved their 3 kids to Tauranga in search of a fresh start and new purpose.
With 20 year’s experience in the Police, Ben has always been a community-minded problem solver and for several years, he also ran a DIY Dads volunteer group in Auckland, rallying a group of mates for monthly DIY days. This also extended to helping people in the community who needed an extra hand around their homes and properties.
Ben has always loved the satisfaction that comes from deconstruction, decluttering, and tidying up messy spaces. For him, clearing clutter isn’t just about physical space – it’s about reducing stress and lightening the mental load. He gets a real buzz from seeing the positive impact a tidy space can have on someone’s mindset.
Known for being super friendly, mission-driven, and always up for a good laugh, Ben brings a people-first approach to every job. It's this combination of practical problem-solving and genuine care for others that makes BLT as much about people as it is about removing stuff.
THE BLT STORY
OUR APPROACH TO YOUR STUFF
We know we’re not taking care of just stuff - it’s your space, your time, and sometimes even your memories. Here’s how we handle things at Busy Little Truck.
PROFESSIONALISM & TRUST: Our customers trust us to handle their belongings and life situations with care and respect. We’re reliable, friendly, and tidy, and we always aim to leave things better than we found them.
SIMPLICITY & EFFICIENCY: We keep things simple and efficient, from booking to pickup. No complicated forms or waiting around. We make it easy to book, and we show up when we say we will.
SUSTAINABILITY: We do our best to keep things out of landfill. That means recycling, donating where we can, and making responsible choices about where your stuff ends up.
COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS: We’re building strong relationships with local organisations like Waipuna Hospice, op shops, and the Tauranga Transfer Station. These connections help us give items a second life, support community services, and dispose of things the right way.
